Good day
I’m so glad I found your site. I’ve got a beardie. HeKs bout 3 years old. I want to get a female for him, what do you think is the best way. Must I get one that’s younger than him or the same age?
I’m gonna ask you a lot of Q’s. I’m busy building a new cage for him aswell. Want to find out bout the light strenght and everything.
Thanks
Sonja
Glad you like the site. The best way to get a female is to get one which is similar in size and near the same age. Provide enough food to avoid fights over food and enough basking spots. For a cage the size for two adult beardies a 100 watt daylight basking lamp and a 75-100watt infrared or moon light lamp for night time heating. A compact 10.0 UVB light is a must. All these are available for sale on this site. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like. I have emailed this to you as well.
Hi
We recently came into possession of a leopard tortoise and would like to get info for best possible care and maintenance of the animal. It is approximately 4 days old. Also are there any types of permits or licenses required for the little critter. I would also appreciate any info on housing the animal and diet for animal and also best diet for a healthy animal
Thanks in advance.
Hi
Permits are required in some provinces. I would house a tortoise this size in an indoor cage with a basking light and a 10.0 compact UVB lamp. Cage temperatures should reach 35 degrees under the basking lamp. Use Corn Cob as a substrate and provide a small hide. Provide fresh water and a selection of leafy green vegetables. Feed your tortoise daily. Calcium supplements are an essential aspect of tortoise care and should be sprinkled over food every day.

Large Bag of Coco Husk is 400 grams enough for several tubs and more than enought for a single 60cm x 45cm cage
